Back in June Ellen page did an interview about Mercy, a project she and Kate would be doing together. More information about it started to be released this week.
Per Variety, “Page is portraying Lucy, the daughter of a man on death row falling in love with Mara’s Mercy character, a woman on the opposing side of her family’s political cause. As a result, Lucy’s value for truth is tested as her world begins to unravel.”
Tali Shalom Ezer, who previously directed the Sundance drama “Princess,” will direct the film from a script by Joe Barton. The film will be produced by Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa for Killer Films, along with Page and Mara.
“Mercy” is set to start shooting in Cincinnati next month.

Kate Mara stars in the film as a woman sent to check out a remote location where a rapidly developing, synthetic girl named Morgan may start to pose a danger to the scientists who created her. The title character is played by Anya Taylor-Joy, the breakout young star from this year’s acclaimed indie horror film The Witch.
The teaser offers the first cryptic look at the titular character, a seemingly innocent “human” who is in fact quite threatening. Morgan is dangerous enough to be enclosed and confined so that a corporate troubleshooter and consultant, played by Mara, can help investigate what looks like a bloody and terrifying accident.
Written by Seth W. Owen and directed by Scott’s son, Luke Scott, the film centers on the difficult decision of whether or not to eliminate this artificial being. Morgan is a teenager, but her capacities exceed most normal humans, and she’s evolving rapidly.
“Morgan” also stars Rose Leslie, Paul Giamatti, Toby Jones and Boyd Holbrook and it hits theaters on September 2.
